What do Ants do in the Winter?

Have you seen more of those tiny, obnoxious creatures in your Quincy area home this winter?
Because ants are fewer and further between this time of year, we may get a false sense of security.  But where do ants go to survive the winter and why do some homes see ant problems in wintertime?

Most ants have consumed mass quantities of food in the fall, then slow down to a crawl in the winter, but DON’T disappear.  Carpenter ants specifically, tend to build nests in warm above-ground cavities.  Believe it or not, they could be doing thousands of dollars of damage while they are foraging and nesting!

Don’t get caught thinking that winter weather does not demand our constant vigilance.  They may be hanging out in damp, unused areas of your home around decaying wood.  Double G Pest Control to the rescue!  Double G is Quincy and Hannibal area’s year around ant control experts.  Give them a call today at (217) 440-2847.
